About us

We are a local community housing provider, established in 1975 to provide appropriate sustainable and affordable housing options to Australian First Nations people. Jupiter Mosman Housing Cooperative Society was established by many of our people who are no longer with us and we their present-day generations are here to excel our past Elders legacy into the future together with our strong standing community of Charters Towers. 

2.1 Objects of company 

(a) The objects of the company are to promote the welfare of Australian Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and South Sea Islander people in the Charters Towers area, including by. 

(i) provide housing 

(ii) providing buildings and grounds for education, recreation or other community purposes. 

(ii) undertaking and providing educational vocational training employment, home management and other services; and

(iv) promote and carrying out any charitable undertaking. 

(b) To achieve these objects, the company may, without limitation: 

(i) harness the resources of the community in support of the objects in rule 2.1 (a) 

(ii) establish and maintain affiliations and information exchange with other organisations having similar objects to those in rule 2.1 (a), 

(iii) act as trustee of any trust the purpose of which relates to the objects in rule 2.1(a). 

(iv) promote the objects in rule 2.1(a); and

(v) do all other things incidental or conducive to the attainment of the objects in rule 2.1(a)
